I would love to do some trips like that. I don't like being a 'tourist' and like to see places through housesitting and other ways than as a tourist. We lived in Australia for 25 years and I would love to return for a camper van trip around the country.

Alice, wow! That would be fun!

I think you picked an excellent couple to be your first Rock Stars!! Cheri and Greg sound like a terrific couple and more than deserving of the "glamping" lifestyle they're looking forward to. I wish them all the best on their pending retirement and all the adventures they have to look forward too. Wishing YOU all the best with your website as well and I hope you have many great adventures of your own!!

Thank you Pamela!

How fun for them! They sound like they’re doing the empty nest right! My hubs and I are still working full time, so we focus on taking great vacations and going to concerts. Lots of staycations by our pool too. It’s all about refreshing your relationship you’ve invested in. I love our empty nest!

YES! I love that…"refreshing your relationship you've invested in"! Perfectly said!

How awesome! I love to see people doing life on their own terms! And getting to travel, whether it's glamping (much preferred) or camping, I'd totally do it! Well, as long as it wasn't a tent that I had to stay in! This is a cool feature on your blog! : )

Thank you Lisa! Yes, glamping is my preferred way to camp as well!

Sounds like they have a great plan! I've been to that cheerleading competition at Disney to watch my niece. Pretty serious stuff! Thank you for sharing your friends with us and introducing me to a new word:)

My husband and I also started glamping this past year, and one of thee benefits is that our three little rescue dogs come with us! Sounds like your friends are in a sweet spot to focus on themselves, well deserved!

What an inspiring and encouraging article! I love hearing the happy plans of this dear couple! And I've never heard of "Workampers" before! That is a great idea! It sounds like you have really been there for each other over the years. I love relationships like that! They are like gold! I have a few friends like that and it was almost as though it was always meant to be that way! Thank you for such a lovely post!

Thank you Amy! Yes, I want to be like them when I grow up! 🙂

Nice idea with the “Empty Nester Rock Stars!” I can see how it can evolve into something awesome, with possibly having people vote for the couple of the year or something. Also, I understand the connection you have with your friends as my hubby and I also connected with another couple through our girl’s softball tournaments for over 13 years. Sweet memories. Now that we are all empty nesters, we continue to go out to dinner, a show or get together with our boats to have a good time. Those of us who are empty nesters and happily married are blessed to have each other to start a new chapter of our lives. Like your blog’s name, the next chapter [is] the best chapter! Much luck with your blog! @emptynestliving1

Ivy, thank you so much! Good friends are a treasure, that’s for sure!
